Sandy Bottom Shoreline Restoration

Work began on October 1st on a project to stabilize 150 of Honeoye Lake shoreline adjacent to the public swimming area. The stabilization involves the construction of a series of soil lifts, protected by erosion control fabric and native plantings. Large rocks are to be placed in the water in front of these structures. The project, administered through the Ontario County Soil & Water Conservation District, is funded through state grants and local match. This is a pilot project for Nature Based Best Practices for shoreline erosion.
