Medication Drop Box at the Richmond Town Hall

Got unwanted pills? Dispose of them safely.

The Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition of Ontario County is excited to announce the installation of a new medication drop box at the Richmond Town Hall where community members can safely dispose of unwanted, unused or expired medication at no cost.

Proper medication storage and disposal helps prevent addiction and accidental poisoning, and protects the environment.

Over-the-counter, prescription and pet medications are all accepted. (Please note, liquid medications and needles CANNOT be disposed of at this drop box.) All medications will be collected by the Ontario County Sheriff's Office and incinerated at Covanta.

The drop box is accessible during the Town Hall's normal business hours:

Mon - Fri: 9 am to 4 pm

Thurs: 9 am to 7 pm

Sat: 9 am to noon

(Closed on holidays)

Confidentiality is strictly enforced, but community members can choose to remove prescription labels or blacken the name on the label.

This medication drop box is sponsored by the Town of Richmond, the Ontario County Sheriff's Department and the Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition, an initiative of the Partnership for Ontario County. To learn more about the medication take-back program, please contact the Partnership for Ontario County at (585) 396-4554.
